Visiting a Church for the first time can be a daunting experience, we hope you will feel welcome and at home at one of our campuses. Have a look below at some FAQ’s and hopefully helpful tips:
Where is SBC?
SBC is one Church, that meets in two locations: Stirling and Sunnyridge. Both campuses are found in East London, South Africa. Our Stirling campus is at 33 Drake Road, and our Sunnyridge campus is at 43 Sunningdale Place.
If you are visiting from out of town, or new to town and would like to know which is the closest to your house, give us a call on 043 735 2340.
Tell me about Sundays…
SBC is a multi generational church, with active family and children’s ministries. Our heart is to pass on our faith to the next generation and we make an effort to make young and old welcome.
At our 8 & 10AM service you will find a huge number of kids and parents dashing around our campus, balls, toddlers and frenetic activity. Older members of the congregation tend to prefer these services too, leaving the youth and young adults to turn up the volume at the 6PM service.
After every Sunday service we encourage the congregation to have a cup of coffee or tea outside (no charge). This is a time to catch up with friends, welcome visitors and to have a word with pastoral staff. If you are visiting please track down one of our pastors, elders or deacons and introduce yourself – we would love to answer any questions you may have about SBC, or connect you with a minister for pastoral care.
They are very welcome! Stirling is blessed with a huge team of volunteers to engage your kids while you are in the meeting. As a church, SBC takes the next generation very seriously, and would love to get to know your kids, grow with them and lay a strong foundation for their relationship with Jesus. Many of our own leaders have grown up in the children’s ministry and they have a special place in their hearts for the team that serves there regularly.
There is a limited amount of parking within the Stirling grounds, which fills up 20 minutes before the start of each service. You are free to park in the streets surrounding the Church, our parking attendants will do their best to direct you to the nearest spot.
The Ridge currently hosts a single service on a Sunday morning, at 9AM. The Ridge congregation is a smaller, more intimate group that meets in the heart of the suburb of Sunnyridge.
Please hang around for a cup of coffee after the service, meet some of the regulars and find out more about activities at The Ridge.
They are very welcome! Our team of children’s ministers meets with the kids in the hall behind the main building, and presents Jesus’ Word in an age relevant manner. More than just teaching, we would love to meet your kids and build lasting relationships with them. We place high priority on equipping the upcoming generation and put a lot of effort into our weekend sessions to make sure your kids have a great, fulfilling and Christ centered time.
There is plenty of parking, on the field adjacent the Church as well as in the road bordering the property. If you wouldn’t mind leaving the spots nearest the Church open for the elderly, we would really appreciate it.
How should I dress?
There is no dress code, we want everyone to feel comfortable and most people choose a casual style. Sundays are a time to meet as a family, to worship Jesus together, to encounter the Holy Spirit and to be ministered to by our teaching team. We want everyone to feel at home, and we encourage you to dress in a way that lets you do that.
