VISION

“To fill the city of East London and beyond, with the gospel and glory of Jesus Christ”

We believe, at this stage in our church’s journey, that the Lord has called us to fill the city of East London and beyond with the gospel and glory of Jesus. The phrase comes from Acts 5:28, when the high priest says to the apostles, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching”. 

VALUES

We believe we will only achieve this vision by obeying the two greatest commandments, both of which have love at the heart of them.

We summarise this call to obedience in three ways:

Loving Up  |  Our motivation in all things is our love and delight for the Lord. 

“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30)

Loving In  |  We are called to deeply love our brothers and sisters in Christ, as modelled by Jesus. 

Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (Jn 13:34-35). 

Loving Out  |  We are committed to loving our neighbour, primarily through sharing the good news of Jesus as well as by meeting their physical needs.

The second great commandment in Scripture is, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’ (Mark 12:31)
